Navy Veterans Exposed to Asbestos While on Duty

Navy Veterans who served on our nation’s warships and submarines from World War II through the Vietnam war were exposed to high concentrations of deadly asbestos in boiler rooms, engine rooms, sleeping quarters and other areas throughout the ships. As a result, Navy Veterans are at a higher risk for developing mesothelioma cancer.

Asbestos Exposure in New York

Asbestos cancer is prevalent among those who worked at New York shipyards including the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Todd Shipyard, and the New York Shipbuilding Corporation.

Workers at New York power plants such as Consolidated Edison, and New York powerhouses including the Astoria Powerhouse and Indian Point Powerhouse were also at risk for exposure to asbestos while on the job.
